My Coaching Philosophy
Before I start throwing recipes and educational blog posts at you, I want to first ground you in who I am as a coach.
Maybe you already read my About Me section, as well as my Work With Me page (if so, thank you!) Truthfully, that info just scratches the surface of my philosophy on nutrition coaching.
Let me start by explaining what kind of coach I am NOT:
- I am not interested in handing over a meal plan of plain chicken breast and broccoli, or any other arbitrary meal plan for that matter.
- I will not focus only on weight on the scale, or measure success only in pounds lost.
- I will not tell someone to adhere to a short-term fad diet for the sole purpose of quickly dropping weight [HINT: the weight comes back]
- I will not just tell a client how much to eat and then leave them alone to figure it all out
I refuse to set my clients up for failure with an unsustainable diet.
Here are some things I can promise:
- I will be available to talk, listen, and educate.
- I will hold my clients accountable to sticking with the hard stuff and making real change
- I will guide my clients through lifestyle changes that are gradual and sustainable
- I will ensure my clients have multiple measures of success and progress
- My clients will leave my program with more confidence and knowledge when dealing with food
- My clients will find a style of eating that works best for their individual needs and health conditions
My goal is always to support the whole person. Not only am I here to answer questions about food, and guide clients through a plan, but I am invested in their overall wellbeing.
I want to know things like:
- How are you sleeping?
- What is your stress level throughout the week?
- What current life events are you navigating?
- How much water are you drinking?
- Do you have a support system?
- Are you making time for self-care practices?
- What does your exercise routine look like?
- Are you taking time away from your phone and computer screen?
Eating the right food is only part of the equation. As a coach, I’m invested in my client’s success, which means making sure that “wellness” doesn’t end with just eating “healthy” foods or consuming an exact amount of carbohydrates each day.
